Keenan's General Tso’s Chicken
Chicken thighs | 2 lb, trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces | |
Corn starch | 1/2 cup | |
Extra light olive oil | 1/4 cup, for frying | |
Minced ginger | 2 Tbsp | |
Fresh Garlic | 3 Cloves (minced) | |
Red pepper flakes | 1/2 tsp (added to taste) | |
Sesame seeds | 1 tsp, optional for garnish |
General Tso’s Chicken Sauce
Cold water | 1/2 cup | |
Low sodium soya sauce | 5 tbsp | |
Rice vinegar | 3 tbsp, or more to taste | |
Hoisin sauce | 1 1/2 tbsp | |
Granulated sugar | 4 tbsp |

For the sauce:
- Combine rice vinegar, soya sauce, hoisin sauce, water, sugar, and some cornstarch to thicken the sauce.
- Simply add the ingredients to a bowl and stir to combine.
For the Chicken:
- Toss the chicken with cornstarch.
- Cook your chicken until all sides are golden brown.
- Remove the chicken from the pan.
- Saute garlic, ginger, and pepper flakes in the pan.
- Add the sauce and bring to a simmer then add chicken.
- Toss the chicken, making sure to evenly coat each piece. Serve hot to hungry people!
