Keenan's General Tso’s Chicken

Chicken thighs 2 lb, trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces
Corn starch 1/2 cup
Extra light olive oil 1/4 cup, for frying
Minced ginger 2 Tbsp
Fresh Garlic 3 Cloves (minced)
Red pepper flakes 1/2 tsp (added to taste)
Sesame seeds 1 tsp, optional for garnish

General Tso’s Chicken Sauce

Cold water 1/2 cup
Low sodium soya sauce 5 tbsp
Rice vinegar 3 tbsp, or more to taste
Hoisin sauce 1 1/2 tbsp
Granulated sugar 4 tbsp

Many people are intimidated to make their favourite takeout at home! Following this easy recipe will make sure you get restaurant-quality General Tso’s chicken every time. I hope you enjoy!

For the sauce:

  1. Combine rice vinegar, soya sauce, hoisin sauce, water, sugar, and some cornstarch to thicken the sauce.
  2. Simply add the ingredients to a bowl and stir to combine.

For the Chicken:

  1. Toss the chicken with cornstarch.
  2. Cook your chicken until all sides are golden brown.
  3. Remove the chicken from the pan.
  4. Saute garlic, ginger, and pepper flakes in the pan.
  5. Add the sauce and bring to a simmer then add chicken.
  6. Toss the chicken, making sure to evenly coat each piece. Serve hot to hungry people!
